This is great stuff! I can give my creative ability a rest. I merely have to read the rantings of my good friend Ralphie “The Rant” LePera and comment on them. Therefore, for your reading pleasure (trumpet sound please) comes…

Ralphie’s Rants-Partie Deux (I learned Spanish when I was in London. Pretty impressive, huh?)

The latest rant appeared on the Snooze Press readers’ forum under the heading “TWO JERKS for the same PRICE!” It was posted on Friday May 19, 2006 at 3:35 pm. Apparently, the two jerks Ralphie is referring to are someone using the name Syndrome and me. He believes we are one and the same. More about that later. Here is the unedited post.

It seems Paco has taken issue with some recent comments I made about Paul A$four in the 2007 elections thread. Of particular note was Paco's response to my saying that ".......A$four was never elected to office in the first place. No one ever voted for this person......" Paco responded with; ".....you might want to report Asfour and City officials who participated in his election scam to the authorities." The fact is that Paul Asfour was very sensitive to claims that he was "never elected." During a council meeting he actually asked the city clerk to verify that he was 'elected' to office. The fact is NO ONE ever voted for him. His name was never on the ballot! Since we know that Paco and Paul read this forum let me help Paco with his memory loss on the Impact Fees where he said, "..... you are accurate in that Asfour voted against impact fees on every occasion. What you might not remember, however, is that he lost every time." Bleep wrong answer. The very first vote to increase road impact fees after Rosado was elected went down in defeat on a 4-4 vote. Then that same year Asfour and his buddies added over $1.5M to the CM recommended budget including additional money for roads. Go figure. Oh and BTW.....since we now know that Sin is Paco and so on, enough with the rouse. R.LePera CCCA

Notice that Ralphie left us waiting with bated breath when he said, “during a council meeting he (Asfour) actually asked the city clerk to verify that he was elected”.

Come on Ralphie. “IF” Asfour actually said that, I’m sure you don’t believe he said it without his tongue firmly planted in his cheek. However, you didn’t provide us with the city clerk’s response. What did she say Ralphie? The fact that you left out her response raises two interesting questions: (1) Did Asfour say what you contend and; (2) What was her response? Come clean now. Did she say Asfour was not elected? Let’s play fair. I know it will be difficult, but no half-truths please.

Ralphie then went on to say, “Since we know that Paco and Paul read this forum let me help Paco with his memory loss on the Impact Fees where he said, "..... you are accurate in that Asfour voted against impact fees on every occasion. What you might not remember, however is that he lost every time.

I don’t know if Asfour reads the forum, but I certainly do. I like Ralphie’s use of the word “Bleep”. Nice touch. What’s really frightening is that Ralphie remembers a vote that took place what…two or three years ago. GOOD GRIEF! Get a life Ralphie. Have a beer. Take a vacation…please.

Regarding the additional money in the budget for roads…can you imagine actually using tax money to improve roads? What a waste. My understanding is that impact fees cannot be used to repair and maintain “existing” roads. Therefore, where else will the money come from to improve the roads that the citizens have the audacity to use, Ralphie? And God forbid that the people who live in the NW part of the City, and were forced to drive on inferior roads (like me), should have the same quality roads that you enjoy. Tsk, tsk times two.

Another thing that Ralphie failed to disclose is that the millage rate has not increased since 1998(?), and has actually declined the last few years including, if I’m not mistaken, the year that the additional money was spent for roads. With all due respect to Ralphie, I’m sure he did not intentionally attempt to mislead the readers. He is far too upstanding to do that.

Regarding Ralphie’s rant that I am Syndrome, let me assure you that (s)he and I are not one and the same. However, Syndrome may be Asfour. (S)he appears to make comments I have heard Asfour make, but that really doesn’t mean anything. People can repeat what other people say or have the same opinions. I should mention, however, that I like what Syndrome has to say. (S)he seems to have her/his act together and makes logical statements. As for Ralphie…

What is very interesting is that someone using the name Oltimer sure sounds a lot like Ralphie. What say you, Ralphie? Are you and Oltimer one and the same, or is (s)he just another of your mouthpieces? Inquiring minds want to know.

And now, emails from readers.

Dear Paco,

If I wanted to hear what Ralph LePera’s has to say, I would join the Civic Association. So, please, no more LePera.

D.B.

Dear D.B.

Yes ma’am.

Dear Paco,

Do you think any candidates for the City Council will make Terry Stewart’s job performance a campaign issue next year?

T.F.

Dear T.F.

Only if they want my vote.

Whether you vote or not, you heard it through the Capevine.
